Use stencils or free-hand paint on to shirts, pillow cases -- any fabric!
The perfect DIY for presents, girls night, fundraisers, side-hustles, and more.

This is seriously one of the best and easiest DIYs I have ever discovered!
I have hand painted MANY shirts, etc. so you are in good hands. :)
Step 1 - Figure out the design

What do you want on the fabric?
Canva is my one of my favorite places to find t-shirt designs. Just search "t-shirt designs" and choose your fav!
Another place I love is Pinterest!
Step 2 - Decide if you want to use a stencil
If you want a steady hand - great! Even if you don't you CAN still paint your design by using a stencil. You can make your own design on the stencil or use a pre-cut one!
Step 3 - Order your supplies
Now that you have the colors and method chosen, you can order what you need!

You HAVE to use a 1:1 ratio of Medium Textile and Acrylic paint.

> My favorite paint set is available on Amazon!
If you're making your own design, use a Stencil Blank. You can cut the design with a craft knife or use a machine (ex. cricut). Be sure to use a cutting board underneath!
OR you can order a stencil that is pre-cut!
You will also need paint brushes and wax paper (to put in the shirt so it doesn't bleed through).
I use The Clothing Shop for my t-shirts, sweaters, etc. (I don't get paid from this website). You can get wholesale prices without a minimum order quantity! They also offer other blanks for projects too! + if you're a new customer they will give you a discount on your first order.
I like the quality of these Bella Canvas t-shirts! Margins are higher too if you resell.
Step 4 - Get to painting!
Mix up your paints with a 1:1 ratio.
Place wax paper in between fabric layers.
Start painting your free handed design or with the stencil. Be sure to keep the stencil still but if it moves - just move it back! Paint away from the stencil, not into it. It may need a second coat.
If you mess up, it's okay! It's hand made = not supposed to be "perfect".
Step 5 - Let it dry!
Lay your fabric out flat to dry! May need a few hour or a day, depending on the complexity and paint thickness.
Care Instructions
Recommended to wash on cold and air dry. Do not iron directly on painted area. Heat can cause it to fade and "crack". I personally wash mine with other clothes on warm and dry with them. It adds a worn look to the design which I like.
Thanks for reading and I hope you give this a try!
