If you're anything like me, when toys are out of order and all over the house it can get pretty over stimulating! Let chat through a simple organizing system we've figured out and some storage that is cute, yet also functional.

First things first: I recommend deciding on a color theme for your home! Then pick your colors, for every room from there.
For JJ's room we chose the a "girlie" color from it. I found this on Pinterest - and yes, it is tile.
If you need help with this, please leave a comment!!
Notice how the art colors tie into the rug! I DIY'd this piece of art, stay tuned for that.
Note about this chest: the manufacture does not recommend it for kid use. However, we love it and find no issues with it being a hazard in even the slightest bit.
This velvet chest is perfect in my opinion. It sits off the floor so more baskets can be added for additional storage, it open/closes very easy, the hinges are strong but JJ can easily open/close it, the storage inside is quite a bit, and so cute (obviously)!!
It adds color, function, and texture to the room.
See if they have the color for your space! Shop the look:

Storage tip: baskets in storage bins keep smaller items organized. Or it really helps to keep the pieces to a specific play set together. You can also take the basket into another room, throw it in when they're done, and place back in the bin!
Having a basket just for the random small items that gets spread around the house is nice too! Especially for when unexpected guests come over. Then when you have time, put it all in its place.
Baskets in the bin! In our large wooden chest we have larger items and basket full of JJ's doctor kit! Keeping those items together makes clean up and storage easier.
If you don't have a dedicated area for the kids having atheistic pieces in the main living area to throw toys in is the trick for you!
P.S. let the storage work for you!! We multi-use this as a side table in the living room since toys just naturally end up here.
Another example of having a piece that is cute but functional!
This piece was bought red, and I had a plan to change it but when it came into the space we liked it! We paired it with another storage piece that we use for homeschooling / learning / art supplies.
Everything gets its own area!
Floating shelves add dimension and additional storage! Add a fun small jar to store items you access a lot. Coloring pencils, crayons, etc. add color to a space too!
Having dedicated areas and switching around baskets, toys, and sometimes rearranging can keep it fun! It gives kids a feelings of "new" which keep you from buying more. We like to keep some books in JJ's room but we rotate some in a basket for her play room too.

At the end of the day, the home is to be lived in and kids have toys! It's a sweet phase so embrace this moment in time... and storage solutions help keep the sanity. :)
