What can you do to add style, color, and pattern without it being expensive or difficult... that's right - add a sponge wall paper!
This is a moderate-easy level and does take some patience, but could get it done in a couple hours, depending on how big your wall is!
First things first: I recommend deciding on a color theme for your home! Then pick your colors, for every room from there.

For JJ's room we chose the a "girlie" color from it. I found this on Pinterest - and yes, it is tile.
I picked green for the living room and laundry room since it communicates calm, freshness, and health.
It's important to remember what a specific color represents before choosing it. The right shade and under-tone is equally as important.

It can be nerve wracking to put color on a wall!
As long as the color is in your chosen color pallet then it will look good!
Add this color/shade into rugs, pillows, cabinets, curtains, etc. to tie the room together. Don't be afraid to add the other colors, in the pallet, to the same room.
Back to painting!! :)
Tools you'll need:
Paint - recommended to have primer in it. Helps it adhere to the wall better.
Sponge. I personally like these because they have a great size and round edges which gives it a more artistic feel (not just a bunch of rectangles).
Paint Tray. Nothing fancy needed but this one is cool so you don't bend down a thousand times when dipping the sponge.
Tabs. If you don't have a tape measure, but I also find it helpful to add these between each stamp and the horizontal lines to help keep it straight.
Now for instructions!

Step 1: Prep Your Walls
Clean walls and trim will remove grime, cobwebs, dust and stains that can prevent your paint from adhering.
Step 2: Cover Valuables
Protect floors, and other items, using a plastic drop cloth.
Step 3: Measure / Layout
With Measuring Tape: measure the length of wall and divide the inches by 2 (ex. 24" / 2 = 12 stamps). Thats how many stamps you should make with the sponge across! Recommended to leave .5" space between each stamp and from wall, baseboard, and/or ceiling.
NO Measuring Tape? No problem. Check out our Sponge Wall DIY KIT!
Using Leveling Tabs: Place a tab on the furthest top left on the wall, near the corner or where you will begin the accent wall., and on the highest point, ceiling or under cabinet. Add sponge next to tabs where it aligns then add more tabs to the right side and bottom of sponge.. Continue Process across and down. If you reach the bottom without enough space, cut sponge to keep .5" (tab width) inch space from top line! Do the same around power plugs! Save these for last.
Step 4: Paint
Stir paint before using. Pour onto paint tray.
Thoroughly dip the long side of the sponge and scrap off paint that drips (using inner rim of plate).
Start stamping sponge on top left and work to the right (not up and down). When horizontal line is complete, move down until finished.

Do not judge your work until it is done!
Then you can go back over, if needed. The imperfections is what gives it an artist feel.
If your a perfectionist - put it aside for this (haha jk I know you can't).. but seriously, do not over think it!
