Create a Fireplace!

Having a real fireplace wall seem impossible? It's NOT - you can create a fireplace feature with just a simple wall and a plug-in for eletricity.

Fireplaces are multi-functional: adding heat and texture as well as a cozy warm feeling to any room. There are really endless ways you can create a fireplace feature.

(AI Generated Fire)

Whether you are an expert or have no idea where to start, you can do this!!

On any wall!

  1. Figure out where you want the feature and measure the length and height. The tiles listed below are 24" long so we did ours the length of the wall then 48" high (2 tile lengths).

  2. Sand any textures off and clean wall. You want it clean and flat as possible.

  3. Apply tiles starting from bottom right (tile experts may tell you middle but lower right will allow less cuts, if any).

Other options are available but I chose Charcoal Slate:

If you make your own mantle, you can use these brackets:

These are SO EASY to use! All you do is screw on in the wall, then other in your mantle. Make sure to weight limit is met then you can slide them into place.

The ones I used (link above) are 80lb limit, per pair. I ended up using the other pair for a large peice of artwork!

Otherwise, you can buy a mantle and follow the instructions provided to hang it!

I cannot vouche for this mantle since I made my own, but its rated really high and has a lot of options for colors and sizing! If I was to buy one it'd be this.

If you like the look of corbels, here are some that would be easy to hang + work with that mantle. Not having them is fine - just gives you a modern look.

I do recommend adding casing around the outside perimeter when you're done. Gives it a cleaner feel!

Options: buy lumber from a hardware store (they can even cut it for you) then nail it in OR you can get adhesive strips (https://amzn.to/4g8MLre or https://amzn.to/4eVoqnC).

Free standing electric fire place options:

We purchased ours from Mernard's and is gas but these plug into an outlet!
